2021 Volcano Relief

In April 2021, the island volcano La Soufriere began an explosive eruption. Over 22,000 people were displaced from their homes and the total damage was estimated to be over $243M.

Thankfully, due to well-executed evacuation procedure, no lives were lost to this eruption.

Using company vehicles, the St Vincent Cocoa Company assisted in helping to evacuate persons from red zones and using our backhoe to clear impassable routes.

The business also supported staff who were unable to work or displaced in some way due to the disaster, with over 40K XCD in assistance provided until normal work could resume.
